No. 1 seed Iga Swiatek’s potential path toward her first Wimbledon championship is paved with former Grand Slam champions.
The five-time Grand Slam champion from Poland, who has never gone past the quarterfinals at the All England Club, will face 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin in the first round.
Swiatek, 23, arrives on a 19-match winning streak that will be tested. Her side of the bracket, in the draw released on Friday, also includes a possible meeting with 2018 Wimbledon champ Angelique Kerber in the third round, 2017 French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia in the fourth and defending Wimbledon champ Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals.
Swiatek is 0-4 against Ostapenko.
Coco Gauff is the No. 2 seed, and the reigning U.S. Open champion will be looking to make it past the fourth round for the first time. Her half of the bracket includes former World No. 1s Naomi Osaka of Japan and Victoria Azarenka of Belarus. Gauff’s first-round opponent is fellow American Caroline Dolehide.
The other top-10 seeds are No. 3 Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus, No. 4 Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan, No. 5 Jessica Pegula, No. 6 Vondrousova, No. 7 Jasmine Paolini of Italy, No. 8 Qinwen Zheng of China, No. 9 Maria Sakkari of Greece and No. 10 Ons Jabeur of Tunisia.
