Today, we shine a spotlight on Festus Ituah, a Senior Lecturer in the School of Health and Social Science at Regent College London, who recently delivered a thought-provoking presentation at the prestigious TIRI Conference 2024.

Dr. Festus Ituah, alongside his colleagues Dr. Tricia Tikasingh and Dr. Morris Anglin, presented a groundbreaking session titled Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to Balance Assessment and Recognition in Higher Education: Ensuring Fairness and Integrity. This collaborative presentation explored the innovative ways in which AI can be applied to assessment and recognition, addressing some of the key challenges faced by educators today.

Speaking about his experience at the conference, Festus shared his excitement: “The TIRI Conference has been an exceptional platform for exchanging ideas and exploring new developments in higher education. It has provided me with the opportunity to share our research and insights into AI technologies, while learning from other experts in the field. The networking opportunities have been invaluable, and I am particularly pleased with how well our presentation was received by the audience.”

The presentation focused on how AI technologies can enhance fairness and maintain academic integrity, offering practical strategies for implementation. With real-world case studies and a deep dive into the ethical considerations of integrating AI in education, the session provided attendees with actionable insights on balancing technological innovation with the core principles of higher education.

Reflecting on the day’s events, Festus added: “Yesterday was filled with engaging sessions, inspiring speakers, and insightful discussions. The conference has been a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow educators and explore innovative solutions to the challenges we face in higher education. Our collaborative effort showcased the potential of AI to transform the way we approach assessment and recognition.”

The TIRI Conference 2024, held on the 10th and 11th of September at The University of Bolton, saw the participation of several academics from Regent College London, including Festus and his esteemed colleagues, Alicja McGarrigle and Amberlee Green, who delivered equally impactful presentations.
