Monday 14th October 2024 marked the start of an exciting Freshers’ Week at Regent College London (RCL). Each day, we hosted a dynamic Freshers’ Fair at a different campus, starting at Wembley, followed by Fitzrovia, Holborn and Southall. The Kingsbury campus held its fair the following week.
At RCL, we believe that embarking on a new educational journey is a significant milestone. We take great pride in offering an outstanding student experience, beginning with a warm and memorable welcome for our new students.
This year, our Campus and Academic teams delivered a diverse programme of activities designed to help students get acquainted with college life and connect with each other.
Freshers’ Week highlights
The standout feature of Freshers’ Week was undoubtedly our smoothie bike. Inspired by our School of Health and Sports Science courses, the bike powers an attached food processor as students pedal.
After selecting ingredients to add to the food processor, our students summoned all their strength to whip up a refreshing smoothie. When they completed the challenge, they poured themselves a cup and enjoyed the fruits of their labour.
In addition, the Health and Sports Science team invited students to try out exciting virtual reality experiences and take part in a grip test experiment, which measured muscular strength using a handheld dynamometer.
Meanwhile, RCL’s Academic Study Skills (ASK) team – dedicated to helping students develop their skills and confidence – hosted interactive sessions throughout the week. Students used QR codes to access quizzes on academic life, with prizes awarded to the winners of each session.
Our Student Support and Graduate Outcome teams were also present to discuss the services available to students and direct them to helpful resources.
External companies such as PureGym also joined the fairs. Their representatives invited students to spin a wheel for a chance to win a goodie bag or perform an exercise challenge on the spot!
Positive student feedback
We were thrilled to receive glowing feedback from our new students about both the fairs and their overall experience of life at RCL. At our Holborn campus, we spoke to Bipin, a master’s student in business, who shared his thoughts.
“I’m really enjoying my first year at Regent College London,” Bipin said. “The teaching has been excellent, and I believe this is because my tutors draw from their own extensive careers in business.”
