Myles Stacey OBE joins Regent College London as Special Advisor

Regent College London (RCL) is delighted to announce that Myles Stacey OBE – a highly accomplished academic, political advisor and advocate for social mobility – has been appointed Special Advisor to both Dr Selva Pankaj, RCL CEO/Accountable Officer, and Tharshiny Pankaj, Regent Group CEO.

Myles Stacey is one of the few individuals in the UK to have served as Special Adviser to two Prime Ministers at length, Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak. Throughout both administrations, Myles demonstrated his commitment to stabilising and strengthening society, as well as building relationships across the UK’s political spectrum and abroad.

As Special Advisor, Myles will bring remarkable expertise and make invaluable contributions towards RCL and Regent Group’s growth and development.

A life transformed by education

Myles’ personal and professional story is one of social mobility and determination. Teachers and role models recognised Myles’ academic gift from a young age. Soon, his hard work and passion for education began to transform his life.

In 2009, Myles graduated from the University of Cambridge with a bachelor’s degree in history. This was followed by a master’s degree in international relations in 2013 (he simultaneously studied a master’s in higher education at the University of Oxford, graduating in 2012). Myles is currently a Visiting Fellow of the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge.

A career serving communities

From 2021 to 2024, Myles was a Special Adviser to the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street, specialising in communities, external relations, and environmental, social and governance (ESG). He worked on widening opportunities, economic participation, and harnessing the enterprise and innovation of communities – both from within and from bilateral relationships and investment.

Myles is the longest-serving Communities Adviser at 10 Downing Street. Upon his appointment, he was the only Special Adviser of British Caribbean heritage out of over 130 across Whitehall. He has since been commended in the House of Commons for his work on social mobility.

Awards and achievements

Myles was awarded an OBE for voluntary services to communities by HM Queen Elizabeth II in the 2021 Birthday Honours. He has also been recognised with awards from diplomats in Latin America and the Caribbean for his outreach work.

Myles’ professional experience also includes working for the EU Delegation to the United Nations in New York, the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as in key roles across Parliament.

Myles is a judge on the National Cyber Awards and has spoken on artificial intelligence (AI) with the UAE Government and at major economic conferences. Additionally, Myles is the only judge from a non-Asian background on the Asian Achievers Awards judging panel. This is testament to the hard work and investment he has put into Asian communities.

“A tremendous asset”

Dr Selva Pankaj commented:

“We are thrilled to welcome Myles Stacey to Regent College London as Special Advisor. His unique experience as a political advisor and his dedication to social mobility make him a tremendous asset to the College. His insights will undoubtedly enrich our mission, inspiring students and staff alike as we work towards educational excellence.”

Myles Stacey OBE commented:

“I am truly excited to join Regent College London, a place that values academic excellence and transformative social change. Education empowered me, and I look forward to supporting the College’s mission of inspiring students to reach their potential. Together, we can foster an environment where everyone believes that anything is possible.”
