Olivia Rodrigo to donate to women’s shelters during Canadian leg of Guts World Tour

On the heels of her highly celebrated initiative to fund abortion nonprofits during the first U.S. leg of her tour, Olivia Rodrigo is taking a slightly different approach in Canada.

Tonight, before taking the stage in Montreal for her Guts World Tour, the singer posted a video on her Instagram stories.

“I wanted to take a second and talk about the next cause I’m going to be supporting as part of my initiative, Fund 4 Good,” she said, her sparkly eyeshadow shimmering.

“For all the Guts World Tour dates in Canada, I’m going to be donating a portion of my proceeds from ticket sales to Women’s Shelters Canada.”

Rodrigo is performing the “Guts” show for two nights in Montreal, then heading to Ontario this week. She’ll return to Canada in the fall to play another show in Vancouver.

Similarly to her support of abortion funds in the U.S., the Fund 4 Good will uplift the work of the organization, as well as encourage fans and supporters to donate.

“Women’s Shelters Canada supports over 600 shelters across the country,” Rodrigo said in her video. “They help women and children who are fleeing abuse and violence.”

The nonprofit calls itself a “strong, unified, pan-Canadian voice on the issue of violence against women,” and provides tools for hundreds of shelters and organizations, so they can channel as much of their energy into helping women as possible.

“With our voice, we help increase awareness to ensure that politics, legislation, and regulations are informed by the experiences and insights of our members — the provincial and territorial shelter networks,” Women’s Shelters Canada’s website reads.

“All of this helps to ensure the women, children, and gender-diverse people who turn to shelters and transition houses in their times of need receive the most effective and compassionate support possible.”

The funds donated by Rodrigo and her fans will go towards sharing resources, improving transitional housing, amplifying policy and advocacy work, providing immediate needs for clients, and maintaining Sheltersafe.ca and Techsafety.ca — two websites with resources for women seeking safety.

Rodrigo did some educating of her own before bidding fans adieu.

“Abuse can take many forms. It can be physical, it can be online, it can be emotional, it can be financial, it can be psychological,” she said. “This is a very important cause to me.”

The “Obsessed” singer also posted a link for supporters to learn more and donate.

Women’s Shelters Canada reposted her brief video to its stories, as well. With a purple heart emoji — Rodrigo’s signature color — the organization shared its gratitude: “Thank you for your support!”

The morning after her first show in Montreal, the organization shared a post to its Instagram feed.

“Women’s Shelters Canada is thrilled that Olivia Rodrigo is supporting us on the Canadian leg of her Guts World Tour,” the post’s caption reads.

“Olivia’s support is allowing us to continue supporting women’s shelters and transition houses across the country and work towards ending gender-based violence.”

The Fund 4 Good is a global initiative that will follow Rodrigo across the world as she continues on her 75-stop tour.

“Fund 4 Good works to support all women, girls, and people seeking reproductive health freedom,” the singer said before taking the stage on the first night of the tour.

“The fund will directly support community-based nonprofits that champion things like girls’ education, support reproductive rights, and prevent gender-based violence.”
